bio:

afters offers a fresh perspective from a well versed group of musicians, led by the effervescent Megan Rose. Drawing inspiration from artists like Lana Del Rey, Lorde, and Black Country, New Road, afters blends atmospheric, confessional indie pop with a literary sensibility unique to the mind of a woman who feels equally at ease in a musty bookstore as she does in a nightclub. With a degree in English Literature, Rose masterfully weaves references from her studies into threads of her own experience, resulting in a mosaic of evocative and relatable songwriting.

The Minneapolis, MN based band explores vast, often heavy themes– isolation in the postmodern world, the loss of youth and innocence, finding one’s place (and peace) in the chaos of the world– without feeling too heavy handed. Rose is joined by an accomplished lineup: Riley Jacobson on guitar, Joe Barron on bass, Hunter Hawthorne on keys, and Ray White on drums– each bringing their own depth to the band's rich, layered sound. afters’ seriousness in soundscaping paired with their whimsicality in lyricism creates an overall sound that is both accessible and thought- provoking.
